Welcome to the Mainstream web site. Mainstream has always generated a high proportion of its income from serial rights sales and for the last eight years we have had a rights department actively pursuing foreign rights deals which has increased our turnover substantially. In this section of the site you will find information about:
In the last twelve months our best serial deals have been THE
PALACE DIARIES and MURDER IN SAMMARKAND to
a leading Sunday newspaper and THE BEGINNING OF THE END to
the Sunday Times.
We are based in Edinburgh but have a company flat in London and are members of The Groucho Club, which enables us to maintain good contact with the London based media.
We attend all the major book fairs, notably the London Book Fair, Book Expo America and the Frankfurt Book Fair. Look out for the Scottish Publishers Stand complete with whisky and tartan tablecloths and you will find Mainstream!
In 2001 our Rights Director, Fiona Brownlee, also went on a global rights trip encompassing New York, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore. You can read the article from the Bookseller in Acrobat format. She also tries to make annual trips to NYC but additional rights trips have been hampered by the arrival of two children!
