Weekend WarriorOur General Top Ten is headed by three new titles. An extract in News of the World sent WEEKEND WARRIOR soaring into the No. 1 spot. Author Kevin J. Mervin was one of 2,351 British Territorial Army soldiers called up in February 2003 to fight Saddam Hussein's regime alongside the British regulars and US troops. Like the other TA soldiers, this was the first time Mervin was to experience real fighting rather than the weekend training he would normally undertake. During his time in Iraq, Mervin kept a day-to-day diary of his movements and noted the daily events taking place elsewhere in the war, and this diary forms the backbone of his dramatic account. WEEKEND WARRIOR paints a startlingly vivid picture of fear and confusion on the front line and the long-term mental scars inflicted upon the author as a result. As usual, the book at the top of the list is available with £1 off and free p&p within the UK for Mainstream on-line customers.

Cut-ThroatCUT-THROAT, by Wayne Thallon, holds the No. 2 spot. When escaped drug baron and MI5 agent Rod McLean was mysteriously found dead in a London flat after two months on the run, even Hollywood couldn't have scripted it better. CUT-THROAT is a truly unique account of Rod McLean's life and death - and the aftermath of both. Using material from McLean's diary. Whether as a mercenary in the Congo, an armed robber in Newcastle or an international drug smuggler and gun runner, McLean will take you through his life as he struggles against the darkest realms of humanity.

The Lone Brit on 13THE LONE BRIT ON 13 is a gripping true story of violence, degradation and adventure penned in the confines of a grim Malaga prison cell. Imprisoned for almost two years for drug-smuggling, the lone Brit on Wing 13, Chance, reveals the horrors he experienced among the villains and screws in the netherworld of the Spanish prison system. It is a shocking and controversial read that will offend, amuse and = ultimately entertain with its unflinching honesty and brutal realism. Christopher Chance's second book CARABANCHAL is due to be published in January 2006.

Last Chance to EatGina Mallett has just won the James Beard Award for the Writing in the Food Category for her book LAST CHANCE TO EAT. This book received terrific reviews:

'Buy this book. Buy several copies and give them to your friends. Wave it around at supermarket check-outs. LAST CHANCE TO EAT has energy, economy and eloquence, and that's just for beginners. Passionate, entertaining, profoundly knowledgeable - give the woman a medal. Ignore it at your peril.' - Daily Mail

Saudi BabylonSandy Mitchell, co-author of SAUDI BABYLON has led a fantastic publicity campaign with an appearance on Richard and Judy, an interview by Alistair Stewart for ITV News and features in The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, Daily Mail and across the Atlantic in the Washington Post and on CNN.

Kathy's StoryKathy O'Beirne, author of KATHY'S STORY, has appeared on ITV's This Morning and a feature will be running in Take A Break in June.

Forthcoming Titles

We have some exciting titles lined up for Autumn publication including GO TO HELL, a blistering expose of malfeasance, abuse and corruption within the Thai prison system. THATCHER AND SON is packed with revelations about Mark and Lady Thatcher's financial and commercial affairs. In KIDNAPPED IN YEMEN, Mary Quin details how a tour of Yemen turned into a nightmare of ambush and captivity, violence and imminent death.

Best wishes
