Mainstream is delighted to have acquired the rights to the wonderful MRS MILLS SOLVES ALL YOUR PROBLEMS by the Sunday Times Agony Diva. You do not need to be familiar with the Sunday Times to appreciate the advice of the elegant Mrs Mills who, with tongue firmly in cheek, guides us through the maze of modern manners, explaining the most difficult of issues with her mixture of dazzling wisdom and acerbic wit. She answers questions of international concern such as, 'How do you deal with a hairy girlfriend?', 'Has my wife gone mad?', 'What is the correct etiquette for wearing a white jacket?' and 'Are gay sons fashionable?'. It is a genuinely funny book which will be published as a £9.99 hardback and targeted at all Christmas humour promotions. Ailsa Bathgate at Mainstream bought the book direct from the editor of the Sunday Times Style Magazine, Adam Hills. For further information contact fiona.brownlee@mainstreampublishing.com
Amy Mitchell in the Rights Department is fast earning herself a trip to Budapest. Following the sale of two books to Hungary last month, this month she has sold THE DAN BROWN COMPANION and UNLOCKING THE SOLOMON KEY to Toth.
She has also sold two books, THE DAN BROWN COMPANION and FIELDS OF GLORY to Nea Edotiki in Greece.
Other sales this month include THE END OF TIME to Veche in Russia and ONCE I WAS A PRINCESS to Mladinska Knjiga Zalozba in Slovenia.
Looking back at 2006 it is inevitable that DON'T EVER TELL was Mainstream's No.1 bestseller but it is interesting to see which other titles performed best in the UK & Ireland market in the calendar year. EVERY SINGLE BALL, the Irish bestseller was No.2 over all, BLUE by Scottish footballer Barry Ferguson was at No.3, EASY RYDER by Ian Stafford was at No.4 and the much publicised PALACE DIARIES at No.5.
