Mainstream is delighted to have
acquired the rights to Hollywood Undercover by Ian Halperin. Halperin is no stranger to undercover investigations. When he posed as a model in 2001 to
expose the fashion industry, his resulting expose, Shut up and Smile (Bad
and Beautiful in the US), sent shockwaves through the industry and became an international bestseller. In HOLLYWOOD UNDERCOVER he goes undercover in Hollywood. He poses as an aspiring actor and soon finds himself with an agent, a job offer (admittedly in a hard core porn film) and ultimately a part in a The Aviator directed by Martin Scorcese. In the interim he is surprised to experience anti-semitism in Hollywood, infiltrates the Church of Scientology and meets numerous Hollywood A-listers including Leonardo ("call me Leo") di Caprio, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin and Barbara Streisand who give him the inside track on what life in Hollywood is really like. Bill Campbell at Mainstream bought the book direct from the author and it will be published in late 2007. Mainstream control world rights. ELIZABETH TAYLOR, the scandalous biography which will only published
after the death of the screen icon, has been sold to Forum in Sweden.
Hungary is emerging as a new and exciting market for Mainstream. In the last month we have sold SAUDI BABYLON to Toth and DON'T EVER TELL to Noran.
Serial rights are also going well. DEVIL INCARNATE has been sold to the News of the World and CONDOR BLUES has been sold to the Mail on Sunday.
EVERY SINGLE BALL by Brian Corcoran reached the top spot in the Irish bestseller list by the end of the year and DON'T EVER TELL which slipped out of the Top Twenty for the first time at Christmas has been back in the Sunday Times Top Ten for the last three weeks.
