New Acquisition:

Mainstream is thrilled to have acquired world rights (excl ANZ) to SINCE I WAS A PRINCESS which can be described as misery memoir (DON'T EVER TELL) meets gutsy memoir (EXTREME by Sharon Osbourne). It is the follow up to Jacqueline Pascarl's ONCE I WAS A PRINCESS which was published to great critical acclaim in 1996 ('I read it at a gallop, like a thriller, sometimes forgetting that it is all horrifyingly autobiographical' - The Spectator) and has since been published in 12 different countries.

In 1992, Jacqueline Pascarl's world collapsed when her former husband, a Malaysian prince, abducted her two young children and took them back with him to Malaysia, claiming it was 'the will of Allah'. ONCE I WAS A PRINCESS, detailed Jacqueline's life up to and including the kidnap of the children. In SINCE I WAS A PRINCESS she describes how she coped with the loss of her children, the complex emotions she felt when she fell pregnant again and the joy when in March 2006 she was reunited with her daughter, a real princess, for the first time in 14 years. At last this is a fairytale with a happy ending. Mainstream and Harper Collins Australia will publish simultaneously in Spring 2007. Paul Howard, author of RIDING HIGH, dispels the myth riding a bike is bad for male fertility; proof provided by the arrival of twin boys last week (Thomas and Freddie, 6lb 2oz and 6lb 12oz respectively).
