Go To HellMainstream is delighted to have acquired rights to GO TO HELL - The True Tale of an Innocent Man's Struggle in Bangkok's Nightmare Prisons as told to Sebastian Williams. This is a blistering exposé of malfeasance, abuse and corruption within the Thai prison system. It is the true story of an innocent British businessman, resident in Thailand, who has so far endured more than 15 horrendous years of hardship in captivity. As his release date approaches, this controversial book highlights the appalling injustice of his incarceration. The story begins with a description of the day he was arrested by Thai police and charged with buying and possessing 6 kg of heroin. He was there to authenticate a letter of credit for an associate who claimed to need help. Instead, it turned out to be a set-up and he was catapulted into a living hell. GO TO HELL illuminates the fear, companionship and violence that he encounters on his journey through the Thai penal and judicial systems. His story uncovers inhuman behaviour, atrocities and instances of horrendous corruption that occur on a worryingly frequent basis. Mysterious disappearances, human-rights abuses and a taste of the dark side of this exotic holiday destination all add to the unpalatable flavour of a gripping account. Sebastian Williams, an Australian, has spent many years travelling to and from Thailand. World rights are available. For more information please contact Karen.brodie@mainstreampublishing.com

Awards

Last Chance to EatMany congratulations to our author Gina Mallet who has just won the James Beard Award for the Writing in Food Category for her book LAST CHANCE TO EAT - The Fate of Taste in a Fast Food World (published 19 May). She beat the likes of Nigel Slater's Toast to scoop the highest honour for food and beverage writers. LAST CHANCE TO EAT dives into the politics of food to expose rotten science, controlling supermarkets and misguided environmentalists, all of whom are contributing to the 'famine of taste' we are living in today. In this provocative book, Gina Mallet weaves together her own experiences with a look at the enemies of good food, some of whom may surprise you. Gina will be in the UK from 12-26 May. Anyone wanting to interview her/commission an article should contact Sharon Atherton on 0131 476 1059 or sharon.laptop@mainstreampublishing.com
