Mainstream are delighted to have acquired RENT BOY by Peter May. Similar to John O'Farrell's Thing's Can Only Get Better in tone, but with housing instead of politics, RENT BOY is May's humorous account of his mainly hellish flat sharing and renting experiences in London. Based upon his 13 rented homes in 20 years it is an antidote to celebrity magazines with their glossy articles about lovely homes. He puts each house move into a political and cultural context by referring to the stories in the news at the time. There's a serious point to be made too - about how a simple roof and shelter should not be beyond the means of most people. We have world rights.
