DANCING IN THE SEA is the beautifully written
and moving account of Catherine Hill's horrific experience of a
hijack which left her unable to walk. When she was 25 she and her
Italian boyfriend went travelling to India. On their return their
Pan Am flight from Bombay to Germany was hijacked when it landed
in Pakistan to pick up additional passengers. Four PLO terrorists
took over the aircraft and the hostages endured about 17 hours
of terror.
Convinced that the Pakistan troops were about to try and rescue the hostages, the terrorists amassed as many people as possible into the aisles and machine-gunned them . Twenty-two people died and more than one hundred and fifty people were injured. Catherine was one of them. Her love story with Picci if anything intensified, and she began a fight that continued for years as she tried to shed a past that she no longer felt part of. Reluctantly, she claimed her new identity.
The story, which spans Italy, India, Pakistan, Britain and the US, combines terror, medical negligence and court room drama with love both between the couple and for Italy, which became her home.
The title, DANCING IN THE SEA, refers to an epiphany Catherine experienced on holiday in the Caribbean after she had settled compensation Pan Am. It was there that she and her Italian boyfriend danced together for the first time since the hijack, in the sea, and there that Catherine realised that with imagination she could discover new ways of doing things she had thought impossible due to her physical difficulties. On this holiday she picked up a pencil and began to write her story. World rights are available.
