Mainstream
is delighted to have acquired rights to JOHNNY CASH: THE
SONGS edited by Don Cusic. Johnny Cash's voluminous recordings
rank as some of the best in country music history. His songs tell
stories - in his unmistakable tragicomic voice - that
most writers can't tell in 500 pages: stories of hope, despair,
vengeance, lust, God, greed, violence, repentance and love. JOHNNY
CASH: THE SONGS is an unprecedented collection of lyrics penned
by Cash throughout a career which spanned six decades. It confirms
Cash's legendary status as an icon in music and excellently demonstrates
why he is now regarded by many as one of the world's greatest poets.
Don Cusic is one of the foremost writers on country music. He lives
in Nashville. Bill Campbell at Mainstream bought UK and Commonwealth
(excluding Canada) from Blake Freidman. Publication will be June
2005 and the ISBN will be 1840189932. For further information contact Fiona.brownlee@mainstreampublishing.com

The
long awaited feature film based on FRAMED seems
to be finally getting off the ground. Tod Volpe is working with
US TV host, Montel Williams, to develop the movie. Montel will
be paying the role of the 'art cop'. Michael Lindsay Hogg ('Brideshead
Revisited' and 'Let It Be') will be directing. Marc Kristal who
wrote the foreword for the book will be writing the screenplay.
Three major studios are currently interested in the project. FRAMED
is published by Mainstream in the UK and ECW in North America.
