Mainstream

Frankfurt we are delighted to report one more rights deal and one
more offer. Harper Collins Australia have purchased rights to KATHY'S
STORY by Kathy O'Beirne. Hodder and Random House were
the underbidders. We have also had offers from Australia for 
LAST
CHANCE TO EAT, The Fate of Taste in a Fast Food World by
Gina Mallett. Both books will be published in the UK in Spring
2005.
Australia is proving a good market for us at the moment. Serial rights for THE REAL NUREYEV have been sold to Good Weekend Magazine in Australia (supplement to the Melbourne Age and Sydney Morning Herald) to appear on 20th November.
Serial negotiations are also underway with publications in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa regarding THE KING AND I, which appeared in The Mail on Sunday and The Independent last week.
At
home, thanks to some inspired lateral thinking by Publicity Manager,
Lindsay Farquharson, REAL FOOTBALLERS WIVES has
appeared in The Times and The Financial Times. The Times did a
2-page spread on 18/10/04. Woman's Hour, BBC Radio 4 are also very
keen to interview Becky.
Dave
Mackay, author of THE REAL MACKAY, continues to
be in demand. He has been interviewed by The Observer and the Evening
Standard. He has also been interviewed on Talksport.
The
long awaited and carefully orchestrated campaign for FLESH
AND BLOOD by Diane Blood is now in full flow with appearances
on Channel 4's Richard and Judy, BBC's Heaven and Earth and press
coverage in the Sunday Times, Guardian and Hello. More to come.
Other
confirmed national coverage includes reviews of RENT BOY and LEEDS
UNITED in the Daily Mail and an interview with Roy Evans,
author of GHOST ON THE WALL) in The Independent on Sunday. Roy
has added two new signing sessions to his schedule and will now
be appearing at Smiths Books in Wigan on 11th November and Pritchards
in Crosby on 12th November in addition to the events listed in
last weeks newsletter.
Two TV presenters have selected Mainstream books as required reading. Lorraine Kelly, presenter of LK Today on GMTV, recently selected IN THE GHOST COUNTRY in The Sunday Express and June Sarpong, presenter of T4 on Channel 4, chose HOW TO SPOT A B*STARD BY HIS STAR SIGN in the latest issue of In Style magazine.

Tod Volpe continues to demand attention for his book FRAMED published by Cutting Edge in the UK and ECW in North America. He is one of the main contributors for an E! True Hollywood Story about Jack Nicholson. The Emmy nominated documentary series claims to offer 'the real story on the shows, the stars and the secrets of the Hollywood elite'. The airdate for the two-hour special on Jack Nicholson is scheduled for January 05. Translation rights for FRAMED are still available. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Irish solicitor Gerry Fanning who died suddenly at the age of 50 last week. Gerry had done a number of legal reads for Mainstream books, most recently for MAD DOG and MILESTONES IN MURDER.
