From Best to BeckhamMainstream is delighted to have acquired FROM BEST TO BECKHAM: A JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF FASHION AND FOOTBALL by Paolo Hewitt and Mark Baxter. It is a groundbreaking work that examines for the first time the link between football and fashion. Featuring a selection of rare photographs, the book divides itself into a work of two halves - the first depicting how fashion has influenced the players and the second showing how it has been represented in the stands. It will take football out of the sports sections and into the style sections. Paolo is a well known journalist and author of THE SHARPER WORD: A MOD ANTHOLOGY; THE SOUL STYLISTS; THE GREATEST FOOTBALLER YOU NEVER SAW and THE LOOKED AFTER KID. Mark Baxter is a former shop and club owner with of a love of 60s clothing and Millwall Football Club.

1001 Nights Without SexAnother great book we have acquired recently is 1001 NIGHTS WITHOUT SEX by Suzanne Schlosberg. It was originated by Warner in the US and has been sold to numerous countries so we are delighted to be publishing in the UK. It is the true story of a sassy 30 something who spends 1001 nights in the metaphorical desert. SEX AND THE CITY writer / exec producer Cindy Chupak has given the book a superb pre pub saying 'Just when you were wondering if all the great dating stories had been told, a fresh voice like Suzanne Schlosberg reminds you that there is always more humour to be mined. 1001 NIGHTS WITHOUT SEX is a clear, honest, funny account of one woman's unintentional celibacy streak that will make you laugh out loud whether you're having sex or not.'

Terror TrackerRights sales are pouring in. TERROR TRACKER by 'cyber journalist' Neil Doyle has been sold to Random House Australia. Enquiries about the book continue to be received from all quarters. Neil Doyle, has been quoted in the Seattle Times and the Washington Post, talking about how ordinary members of the public are increasingly using the Internet to hit back at terrorist groups. Cyber-terrorism is an issue that features highly in the book.

In Hitler's BunkerIN HITLER'S BUNKER has been sold to Modern Press in China c/o the Big Apple Tuttle Mori Agency. IN HITLER'S BUNKER has now been sold to Lyons Press in the US, Random House in Australia, Lubbe in Germany, El Ateno in Argentina (World Spanish rights) so it really is going global!

Offers for serial rights are also coming in thick and fast. We have several high offers for FLESH AND BLOOD, the true story of Diane Blood who fought for the right to use her late husband's sperm to have the children they had been planning before his sudden death of meningitis. The King and IAnother book which has had a number of offers this week is THE KING AND I, The Uncensored Tale of Luciano Pavarotti's Rise to Fame by His Manager, Friend and Sometime Adversary, Herbert Breslin.

On the makeMedia interest for ON THE MAKE is as frantic as ever. A double page feature in the Daily Mail ("March of the McMafia") has gathered letters from across England protesting at the Scottish takeover (one lady says that she hates the Scots so much she is organising a shortbread boycott!). High-brow lefty Prospect magazine will have a piece by David Stenhouse in its next issue, and he was back on a BBC Radio 5 Live for a phone-in debate.

HomelandHOMELAND continues to gain critical appreciation across the literary and political spectrum. The August edition of Front magazine carries a four-page exclusive interview with Nick ('Nick Ryan v the BNP'), in which he describes his experiences researching the book and the BBC drama England Expects, as well as his opinions of the British National Party (which crept up from 17 to 21 council seats during the local elections). Meanwhile, The Daily Sport's Ladsmag comprehensively praised Homeland, saying it makes you 'very uncomfortable indeed...In pursuit of his story, he finds himself mixing with neo-Nazis, murderers, Holocaust deniers and footy hooligans. Read it and worry. 'ICE (another's men's title) awards the book four out of five stars, calling it "shocking and scary", echoing FHM's review last year.

And Finally...
