Mainstream
is delighted to have acquired STREETWISE, described
in a preview in The Bookseller as 'First hand accounts of crime
by young people who have succumbed to it through boredom, poverty
or desperation; the samples I have seen are heart-rending.' The
writers are all inmates of a Dublin prison and draw from their
own experiences and involvement in crime to reveal what is really
happening on the streets. It provides an insight into the minds
of criminals and the motives and circumstances behind their actions.
STREETWISE will be published in August and proceeds will be donated
to children's charities. World rights are available.
Rights
sales continued this week. We have confirmed the sale of THE
REAL NUREYEV to Thomas Dunne (St Martins Press) in the
US. French rights have already been sold to Editions Carnot. Serial
will run in a national broadsheet at the end of August.
Media
requests continue to pour in for Diane Blood whose memoir FLESH
AND BLOOD will
be published in October. They are not restricted to the UK.
Oprah interviewed Diane when her story first hit the headlines
in the US and the Australian media are familiar with what happened
to her and eager to follow it up.
SULTAN
IN ARABIA by John Beasant is suddenly hitting the headlines.
The Mail on Sunday have just run a feature and The Sunday Times
are also running a news story. World rights are still available.
Jane Ridder Patrick's ZODIAC CODE SERIES is also getting a lot of media coverage. In an inspired moment of lateral thinking, press officer Lindsay Farquharson has arranged for Jane to write a daily forecast in a major national newspaper during the Euro 2004 football tournament. Jane will be appearing at the Edinburgh Book Festival at 6.45pm on 18th August and her astrological guides will be launched at The Theosophical Society on 4th June.
