Mainstream
remained on the Sunday Times bestseller list this week with SOLDIER
FIVE by Mike Coburn. We are on something of a roll having
had offers for both Australian rights and UK serial for DANCING
IN THE SEA. We have also accepted an offer for THE
GREAT ESCAPERS from Spain.
I
am being totally self indulgent this week and announcing a new
acquisition which is close to my heart. It is the autobiography
of Dave Mackay, one of football's genuine legends who was
at the centre of many of the biggest stories of British football
for almost three decades. He played for Hearts, Tottenham Hotspur
and Derby County and managed several clubs including Nottingham
Forest and Derby. As a Derbyshire girl he has always been a hero
of mine and I am delighted that we are publishing his autobiography. THE
DAVE MACKAY STORY is as uncompromising, determined and
controversial as the player himself. It is being written in conjunction
with Martin Knight who is responsible for numerous bestsellers
at Mainstream including HOOLIFAN, THE NAUGHTY NINETIES and OSSIE.

were amused to read that after running a major feature claiming SCOTLAND

forced to include it in their list of bestselling hardback non-fiction!

A big thank you to Fiona Atherton who has been helping out in publicity
for the last couple of weeks. With the surname of our Publicity
Manager (Sharon Atherton) and the first name of our Marketing Director
(Fiona Brownlee) she has managed to utterly bamboozle many of the
people she has been dealing with but she has been great.
