News 19 June 2003
We
have just had an offer for US rights for HOMELAND: INTO A WORLD
OF HATE by Nick Ryan. It has had superb reviews and I have been
inundated with e-mails from customers trying to get hold of it in North
America so I am delighted that it is going to be available over there.
This
week is our deadline for releasing books to Trafalgar Square for US distribution
in Spring 2004. I am sorry to have to hand over BAGHDAD'S SPY without
a US deal but am sure that they will do well with it. One of the UK's
leading espionage experts, Robin Ramsay, has just given the book a superb
review in 'Lobster':
"... Using her firsthand knowledge, supplemented by her father's
papers, Souza has created a classic of the espionage genre: I know
of no better account of the experience, the mechanics, and the feel
of being a spy, of a life led undercover..."
Now
that the Spring titles are out of the way I shall be concentrating on
selling our Autumn list. Interest in IN HITLER'S BUNKER remains
high and I anticipate finalising a deal within the next couple of weeks.

SHANG
A LANG, which was one of the most popular titles at Book Expo
America, is proving equally popular in the British media. Les McKeown
has already been booked to appear on The Steve Wright Show, BBC Radio
2, Richard and Judy on Channel 4 and we are waiting for confirmation
from Graham Norton, Channel 4. The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, The
Mirror, Guardian Weekend Magazine, Observer Magazine and Sunday Magazine
are all interested in serial rights.
There has also been a lot of media interest in NO BALONEY by
boxing promoter, Frank Maloney. The Sun, News of the World. The Star,
Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday are all waiting to see manuscripts and
The Pat Kenny Show and Richard and Judy are lined up to do interviews
at the time of publication.
And Finally...
I promised you a photo from LA but hadn't anticipated quite how mad
I would look. I am pictured here on Venice Beach with Susi Rajah, co-author
of HOW TO SPOT A B*STARD BY HIS STAR SIGN and what appears
to be a man's arm in my mouth!
