News 9 May 2003
Following last weeks' acquisition news about IN HITLER'S BUNKER we
have been inundated with requests for material. We have had interest
from 14 North American publishers and five Australian including one offer.
Although the manuscript is not due until next month it seems likely that
North American and Australian rights will be sold on synopsis. We have
also had interest from numerous foreign publishers. German rights have
already been sold to Luebbe.
In the last week we have also had offers for SEAL, HEALING IN
THE 21ST CENTURY and TEN GOLDEN RULES FOR GOOD HEALTH.
The author of the two health books, Jan de Vries continues to have
a high profile in the UK. He was interviewed on THIS MORNING on ITV1
on Wednesday 5th May.
Following
the elections last week the BNP (British National Party) has a worrying
17 councillors in England. It is not only a British problem. Nick Ryan,
the author of HOMELAND: INTO A WORLD OF HATE has discovered
that Nick Griffin, the BNP leader featured in the book has had a meeting
in London with Jean-Marie Le Pen, leader of the Front National. The two
are discussing an electoral pact, together with groups in Italy (Alleanza
National and Lega Nord) and Belgium (Vlaams Blok) to form a defacto extreme
right block inside the European Parliament. The European parliamentary
elections will take place this time next year.

CHARLES by Mario Risoli has had reviews in THE INDEPENDENT
and THE SUNDAY TIMES. It is Number 3 in the Sports Pages bestseller
list.
And Finally...
This week has been taken up with our Autumn sales conference. Many thanks
to the authors, Frank Maloney and Kevin Brennan (NO BALONEY);
Michael Gilliard (UNTOUCHABLES); Hugh Jordan and David
Lister (MAD DOG) who gave up their time to present their
titles. We were particularly impressed by David Lister's brave attempt
to drink an entire bottle of champagne through a straw!
