News 1 November 2002
Welcome to a special edition of the newsletter. With so many books
out at the moment we wanted to make sure you knew about the great coverage
the following titles have received:
FRAMED (1903813
034) author Tod Volpe is being interviewed on LBC on Saturday 2nd November.
The show is called Weekend Wireless and the interview is live for 15
minutes. This adds to interviews so far in The Sunday Telegraph, The
Independent (running Tuesday 5th November) The Evening Standard, FHM,
Business AM, Radio Scotland and Simon Mayo on Radio 5. We now also have
interest from Heat Magazine.
Anyone wanting to interview Tod should contact Sharon Atherton on 0131
550 7513. Tod is in the UK at the moment. With the Turner Prize very
much in the news at the moment - who better to commentate on art and
its place in society, and all the glitz and the glamour that surrounds
it?
The book is a biography, the story of a tailor's son who had an appetite
for the finer things in life. He became tastemaker to the stars, including
Andy Warhol, Madonna, Jack Nicholson and Joel Silver, but at the height
of his success he self-destructed in a scandalous case of fraud that
made international headlines and threatened to blow the lid off the shadowy
world of art dealing in a star-studded trial.
Extracts
from WAR OF THE WINDSORS (184018 6313) have been sold
to a top-selling daily newspaper. Dates to follow. The Simon Mayo show
have already requested that one of the authors appear on the show.
WEATHERBEATEN (184018
602X) has been receiving rave reviews. Forecast Magazine - the magazine
for weathercall, the phone weather forecast service - are running a review
in their official magazine, which has a circulation of over 120,000.
The Independent gave an excellent review and co-author Joyce Kay has
appeared on John Beattie's Sports Weekly Show on Radio Scotland.

CLARET
AND BLUE BLOOD (184018 4892) author Kirk Blows was a guest
on Tom Watt's show on BBC London Live on October the 19th. A very positive
review of the book appeared in the Romford, Ilford and Newham editions
of the Recorder weeklies. The official club magazine, Hammers News,
is running a review in their next edition.
The
Morning Star is running an interview, feature and review of LABOUR
PARTY PLC (184018 6003). The Daily Mail are still intending
to run an extract when the subject is topical again. I'm sure we won't
have to wait too long before another huge donation heads their way!
The
publicity for HARRY'S GAME (184018 3667) has been phenomenal.
Harry was on The Kelly Show - UTV, UTV news and the BBC last weekend.
There will be an interview in The Observer very soon and there have been
extracts in News of the World and mentions in just about every national
newspaper in the last week. The Guardian and Radio Five are poised to
talk to Harry as soon as he is well enough. Manchester United Television
ran their interview and coverage of the launch in Belfast as three separate
pieces, and there is interest from Granada about making a documentary.
Watch this space!
And Finally...
SCUM
AIRWAYS (184018 5767) is causing a real stir in Manchester.
Watch out for a piece from John Sugden in The Observer.
