New Books just in...

We've received lots of finished books in this week including:

The Bird That Never FlewThe True Crime Autobiography, THE BIRD THAT NEVER FLEW (184018 6496), which traces the dangerous footsteps of Johnny Steele, a prominent figure in the Glasgow underworld. The book details how Johnny and his brother staged the most daring breakout that Barlinnie Prison has ever seen. The book is a compelling, often shocking, and uncompromisingly honest account of how the human spirit can survive against almost crushing odds. It is story of family love, friendship and, ultimately, a desire for justice. Published at the end of September.

MaxtonTwo political books are published this month. MAXTON (184018 6097) by Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown describes James Maxton, Britain's most charismatic socialist politician of the inter-war period. He was seen by many as a potential Prime Minister and Brown examines the shaping of Maxton's political career from Conservative student to socialist teacher in slum-ridden Glasgow, street-corner orator to leadership of the Independent Labour Party.

Labour Party plcLABOUR PARTY PLC (184018 6003) offers the first serious examination of what has been the defining phenomenon of British Politics over the last decade. Included is the most comprehensive list of all Labour Party donations ever compiled, and an examination of how the donors have benefited from New Labour in office. The Daily Mail is running an extract at the end of the month.
