Film Rights for The Gloves

The GlovesLeonardo di Caprio has taken an option on film rights for THE GLOVES. The autobiography by Robert Anasi is published in early September and has already been published in the US by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. More information on the film rights as we get it.

In the book the author writes not as a journalist on assignment but as a man in the midst of one of the great adventures of his life. He decides to enter the Golden Gloves Tournament, an American institution that takes centre stage in the amateur boxing world - a single elimination contest in which young hopefuls square off in steamy gyms with the boxing elite looking on. It is beautifully written and has the feel of a contemporary classic.

THE BRITISH WEATHER!!!!

WeatherbeatenWith Wimbledon finished the images of people sitting under umbrellas hoping that they may get a glimpse of some action on the courts are still stuck in our heads. September sees the publication of WEATHERBEATEN. The weather remains the key element of chance in an age where authorities and promoters attempt to control every aspect of events. The authors, Joyce Kay and Wray Vamplew, take an in-depth look at how fog, rain, snow, frost, storms - and occasional sunshine - have affected sport in Britain and what has been done to try and combat the elements. Something to have by your side while waiting for the rain to go off and the action to start!
