LES McKEOWN AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Les McKeown was the lead singer with the 70's pop sensation The Bay City Rollers. This is his autobiography. The world's first ever boy band they consistently reached number one all over Europe and in North America, selling an estimated one hundred and twenty million records. In Japan the Bay City Rollers were more successful than the Beatles. This long awaited chronicle of Rollermania provides a fascinating insight into the less savoury aspects of the music industry. Irvine Welsh will write the foreword. The manuscript is due at Christmas for publication next year.

JOHN McNAMEE has known Meg Henderson since childhood. Following her international best seller FINDING PEGGY (Harper Collins), in this book she aims to find the truth about the footballer John McNamee. She goes beyond his success on the football field to describe his childhood with a vicious drunk as a stepfather and being taunted at school for being a 'bastard'. She also describes how his wife died suddenly at the age of 41 leaving with him with four children under the age of 13. Money was tight and he rarely saw his children because he had to work so many hours to support them. Then he broke his neck in a head on crash and is currently recovering from a triple by pass. Asked why he didn't contact the Players Union when he was struggling financially he shrugs and says 'I didn't like to ask'. This is a human story, not just a sports biography.
