NEWLY SIGNED TITLES

Contracts have been flying around this week. We have just signed up seven new titles:

DEATH AND GLORY by Graeme Obree. World rights.

Graeme Obree was a prodigious cyclist from his junior years onwards, but after a narrow escape from a jail sentence and an even narrower reprieve from a suicide attempt in his early 20s, his career was sporadic. He struggled with undiagnosed manic depression and personality disorder but despite it all he went on to achieve world fame by smashing numerous world records. His career faltered at the Olympics at Atlanta when he descended in to deep depression and near suicide despite being a favourite for the gold medal. His book would be a good factual account of his cycling exploits alone, but by being intertwined with his turbulent life, this book is a fascinating and touching story about one man's struggle against adversity to become number one at his sports, as well as his personal struggle against mental illness.
