ACQUISITIONS
Two new books have been signed up this week. We have world rights for
both.
THE PLEADER - Len Murray practiced as a lawyer for over 40 years.
He dealt with a number of high profile cases including that of Tony Miller,
the last person ever to be hanged in Scotland. Despite a desperate appeal
by Murray, the 19 year old was sent to his death on 22 December 1960.
In his candid account Murray describes the personal effect the case had
on him. He also describes his cheeky defence of famous Beatle Paul McCartney
who was arrested on drugs charges. Reluctant to go public until now Murray
opens his amazing and hitherto secret files to the world.
THE SCOTTISH MOVIE BOOK - Scotland has always punched above its
weight when it comes to big screen entertainment, be it through vintage
comedies such as Whisky Galore and Local Hero, cult classics like The
Whicker Man and Highlander, the Oscar triumph of Braveheart or the phenomenon
of Trainspotting. In THE SCOTTISH MOVIE BOOK Brian Pendreigh pulls together
all the facts, figures and anecdotes for the first time, resulting in
the definitive guide to all things Scottish in cinema. It will provide
Scots, tourists, film fans and filmmakers with a concise A-Z guide to
Scotland in film.
