FORTHCOMING TITLES:

The Looked After KidIrvine Welsh has now read the manuscript for THE LOOKED AFTER KID by Paolo Hewitt to be published in May. We are delighted that he shares our enthusiasm for the book and has taken the time to supply the following quote for the jacket:

'This is a courageous and moving account of growing up in the most unfortunate of circumstances, told without any bitterness or self-pity. It's also an uplifting story about refusing to give up on your dreams or letting your spirit be crushed by the cruel, arbitrary blows that fate can deal out. Above all, it will serve as an inspiration to loads of people who've had a similar background to Paolo.'

For more information about THE LOOKED AFTER KID see the forthcoming titles section of the web site.

Perfection She DancesWhen we published PERFECTION SHE DANCES by Robert H Davies last year Howard Marks supplied a quote which was used on the press releases but missed the jacket. Later this year the book is being published as a £7.99 paperback under the new title of PRISONER 13498, A TRUE STORY OF LOVE, DRUGS AND JAIL IN MODERN CHINA. This time the Howard Marks quote will be on the cover!

'I thought it was brilliant. I was particularly impressed with the way historical contexts and geographical facts were presented . . . It's a beautiful blend of scamming, hell raising and deep personal romance.'

The Freatest Footballer You Never SawWe have just signed a beautifully written memoir by John Andrews with David Smith of the Annette Green Authors' Agency. FOR ALL THOSE LEFT BEHIND is a universal tale of what happens to people after they've suffered a loss set in the world of memory and imagination, but also in the world of the fisherman. Andrews had an unusual introduction to Mainstream. We first met when Mainstream were publishing THE GREATEST FOOTBALLER YOU NEVER SAW about Robin Friday and John was marketing a CD about Robin Friday with the more rock'n'roll title of MAN DON'T GIVE A FUCK by the Super Furry Animals. At that time he was Marketing Manager for Creation Records. When Creation was bought by Sony, Andrews was courted throughout the music industry and told he could walk into any job he wanted. Instead he confounded the expectations of colleagues and friends by spending the next eighteen months writing this book. It will be published in Fall 2002.

SERIAL / EXTRACT RIGHTS:

TERROR ON THE PITCH continues to garner an enormous amount of interest both in terms of foreign rights, home sales and serialisation rights. We have already received a five figure bid from a leading tabloid for extract rights and is huge.  We have a first 5 figure bid in from a leading tabloid, and a bidding war is about to ensue!

The FilthWe have also just had our first bid in for THE FILTH.  Again, because of it's sensational content we expect a lengthy bidding war.

There is major interest in Ireland for BREAKING THE BONDS

For further information on all the above titles please browse the 'forthcoming titles' section of the web site which can be found by pressing the AUTHORS. RIGHTS or BOOKSELLERS buttons on the homepage.

And Finally...

Readers of the tabloid press will be aware that Jordan (known primarily for her enormous assets and minimal clothing) is planning to give birth live on the internet to promote her web site. You will be relieved that I have no intention of doing anything similar to promote the Mainstream site when I give birth in July!

Best wishes
Fiona Brownlee
Director - Marketing and Rights
